Multi-platinum selling Artistry Records/Warner Records/ICY rapper Saweetie released a new track and video for "Pretty B*tch Freestyle" in celebration of her birthday earlier last week. The song forth comes her recently released single "Tap In," which marks Saweetie's first record since her 2019 EP My Type.
Unlike your traditional “Happy birthday” song, Saweetie makes it clear that she’s celebrating all women to define their own Pretty. Saweetie's endowed meaning of B*tch = Boss. Independent. Tough. CEO. Hyphy. This project features production by Timbaland and Danja, and is an instant additive to your quarantined playlist. The Pretty B*itch herself pays homage to the rap game by sampling Black Rob’s 2000 hit “Woah!” off of his album Life Story. The song starts off with Rob’s violin looping that transcribes into a synchronized trap beat transporting Saweetie’s freestyle. The freestyle itself hands out a glimpse of Saweetie’s deluxe lifestyle, all while honoring the journey it took for her to get there. “I was in the dorm stressed out with my roomie, Now I'm in a Benz stretched out 'cause it's roomy”. University of Southern California’s (USC) very own highlights her growth from her academic career to the opulent lifestyle she is currently living.
The remainder of the song expresses Saweetie’s love for her latest lifestyle and the standards she has set for it moving forward. Listeners can hear Saweeties Pretty B*tch Music label tag throughout the song foreshadowing her upcoming project. The strategic release of Pretty B*tch Music goes hand-in-hand with Saweetie’s social media activity during COVID-19; “Every lie off your lips get me views, I admit, All my quarantine pics going up, I ain't miss”. The Bay Area rapper has been adamant with releasing icy content on her social media platforms leading up to and during her special day. Saweetie continues to expand her Pretty B*tch empire, teaming up with various clothing lines that are adamantly supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
