Adonis the Greek is a St.Louis native of British descent, who moved from Missouri to Los Angeles, California to pursue his childhood dreams of stardom. He developed his rap skills after beginning his career as an entertainer and dancer. A unique transcending artist, fusing a nostalgic retro style R&B with a raw bad boy Rock/Rap Sound. His debut EP titled Athens combined the smoothness of R&B with a new hip-hop edge.
The Nuance Magazine team got to catch up with the rising artist. In the exclusive interview, you will find out more about Adonis The Greek, his experience on ‘The Cut’, and creative processes in front of a camera.
What's the biggest challenge you had to overcome in music? On the Cut?
I would say the biggest challenge was just getting the vibe right and getting the full song done in 10 hours with basically new chemistry since we were meeting for the first time.
If you didn't become a musician, what would you be doing right now?
I would probably be either playing football or designing video games, both big passions of mine.
Describe the feeling when you found out you’d be on the cut?
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect, I so happy to get some extra exposure for my music.
What was it like collaborating with people you had never met?
Jermaine Elliot was way more talented than I thought, I didn’t know his music as well as I do now. That said, obviously going in blind you just hope your counterpart can keep up.. he brought so much flavor and another great mind to everything we did so I’m really happy I got paired up with him.
Did the presence of a camera crew add pressure to your creative process?
I don’t think we needed any more pressure beyond getting it all done in 10 hours. I just was hoping I didn’t look like a villain on camera because I know the mode I get in when I am creating is kind of demanding especially with the time constraint and me being a perfectionist.
What was it like working with OG Parker?
He’s such a dope producer and person I was honored to share the light with him. I look forward to actually doing a song with him one day.
What are your plans after appearing on The Cut?
My plans are to just keep pushing, keep dropping music, and making plays for more exposure. Basically, keep up the overall momentum for my career.
