Michael Da Vinci and Lege Kale recently released their EP titled, Roses, an ethereal project that presents the listener with a sound that can only be identified as other-worldly. Though this is Da Vinci’s first EP, the Chattanooga rapper has several other songs in his arsenal, including his most popular song on Spotify, 40oz. Roses comes after Kale’s 2017 album, Tidal Graves, which has a similar, trap-funk profile. The rappers’ creative effort combined is what makes this album stand out; the songs are bright and trippy, a dynamic contrast compared to the pool of pandemic blues we see now. This most certainly has to do with the pairing of Da Vinci and Kale’s smooth delivery joined by the colorful melodies sprinkled throughout—a true representation of the EP’s almost extraterrestrial cover art. Because of Roses’ genre-bending tracks, the EP will no doubt age well into the upcoming decades.
