From a Potter’s Hands is a compilation album brought to us by Zahir, enlisting the help of his lifelong friends to deliver a soulful collection of DC music touching on family, embracing the creativity inside, and showing determination in trying to achieve goals.
Showcasing the new sounds of his hometown Washington D.C., Zahir’s keen ear for curation put together a standout project putting on for his city with room for every artist to shine. “The Untold Story” has a chipmunk soul sample reminiscent of a young Kanye West in the late nineties before the fame, in which Ezy, Niko X, Neolovesbias, and Zahir himself all flow over with ease.
The lead track “Potter’s Hand” featuring Wakai gives off a California-cool vibe throughout, where you can easily imagine a Vince Staples or a Schoolboy Q selecting this production style to be featured on their next record. The song has a positive message of trying to be the best possible version of yourself.
From a Potter’s Hands displays an impressive roster of DC talent and leaves the listeners wanting more. The entire album is a borderline groove fest chock-full of smooth, laid-back beats that you can chill in your car while you drive around during the summer.
