Columbia, Maryland native Tre’ Amani shares outstanding new EP Incrementum via Civilized Human Beings. The Lost Kids signee has been dropping heat all year, from his standout feature on “ADDICTIONS” off Brent Faiyaz’s Wasteland LP to his hard-hitting, lyrical showcase on Amani’s $Hook EP, garnering attention with his effortless flow, emphasis on lyricism, and pristine beat selection. On Incrementum, Tre’ Amani slows the pace, relaxes the vibes, and gently guides the listener on a smooth exploration of glistening orchestral samples, wavy guitar licks and boom-bap percussion for a luxurious 20 minutes.
“Focus” encapsulates this luxury-rap vibe perfectly with its dusty, crisp percussion, swelling vocal samples, and Amani’s laid-flow which progresses to a pleasant melody on the hook. On “Sol,” Amani easily rides over a soulful bounce before singer Mallika Vie delivers a soothing chorus that feels like it's being sung inches behind the speaker. “Flos” builds an atmosphere with innovative drums, filtered synths, and a crowd-sung-hook as Amani lyrically doubles down on his pursuit of greatness.
On the opener, “Timeless,” the flow and instrumental both cinematically build from an introspective late-night walk home to a triumphant entrance. “Dream Team” adds more conventional trap drums to a groovy, trumpet-centric melody, bridging the gap between $Hook and Incrementum to form a dynamic mix. Amani seems to be finding a sweet spot between an old school, laid-back lyrical vibe and a more contemporary, flow-centric MC, as he fits into beats from both lanes with ease.
