Just this past Friday, Royal and the Serpent dropped her newest single titled “phuck u” leading up to the release of her EP searching for nirvana on June 4. “phuck u” is supercharged with angst and rockstar energy. It deals with the concept of living a life outwardly happy and successful, and yet still feeling a sense of self-hatred. The song explores this through its central lyrics “so why am I in the mirror saying fuck you.” Crashing drums and an energetic accompaniment will have you jumping around in your bedroom listening to this song.
“phuck u” follows Royal and the Serpent’s previous single “Overwhelmed” which spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Alt Airplay chart and has almost 80 million streams on Spotify. She spent 2020 opening for YUNGBLUD on his virtual world tour. Her upcoming EP searching for nirvana is her next step in her artistic process, which she has said is inspired by her journey of self-love and acceptance. Royal and the Serpent is a musical force to be reckoned with, and she’s only getting started. Expect to see a lot more of her after her album release on June 4.
