Kevin Holliday’s new track “Want Me Too” is a simmering late-night vibe. The rising Brooklyn alternative-r&b star’s lowkey melody harmonizes perfectly with the soprano voice of Dach, who collaborated with Halliday on the track to create a wonderful duet about the confines of love.

The sound of the talented r&b artist from Brooklyn, NY combines elements of alternative hip-hop and classic r&b to create tracks that have as much soul as they do bounce. “Want Me Too” starts with blistering synths and pitched-up vocals reminiscent of Tyler the Creator’s IGOR before dropping into a boisterous beat of swooning sinewaves, dusty percussion, and mesmerizing bassline. Drawing on inspiration from Marvin Gaye’s “Here My Dear,” Dach and Holliday’s dueling vocals reflect the sentiment of two lovers fighting against the constraints of time and distance on their relationship to maintain what is real between them.

Kevin Holliday has a gift for matching infectious basslines with his r&b vocal chops to create a sonic-portrait that combines these two influences of Tyler, The Creator, and Marvin Gaye to create a unique sound that’s hard to stop listening to. Coming off the success of his last single “Fire,” Kevin Holliday is perfecting his sound in 2020 with his latest release “Want Me Too.”
