Peter $un aka Sunny drops the swaggering “Pay Me No Mind,” the first single off his forthcoming EP Phone Calls Gimme Anxiety. The RVA-turned-LA rapper and former Nuance Cover Artist confidentially channel his animosity towards haters into a self-motivating lyrical fire.
“Pay me no mind is my toxic braggadocious rap song. It’s just me wanting to flex on all the people who doubted me,” Sunny said in a statement. “It’s that underdog song, underdog attitude. I still want to prove to everybody wrong who doubted me. Petty Sunny.”
Sunny’s persona on the track as soon as he starts rapping oozes pure swagger and self-esteem over dreamy keys and a punchy bassline. The bodacious lyrics of the song can give you the confidence to go out onto the basketball court and think you can shoot threes like you are Steph Curry even if you never picked up a ball a day in your life.
The music career of Peter $un has been on an upward trajectory, expanding his sound and audience with each release, especially on his latest LP Scumbaby. We at Nuance have paid close witness to $un’s ascension in the music industry since featuring him on the cover of the Second Issue back in 2018 and are delighted to have helped bring his refreshing sound to more headphones and speakers. He’s an artist you can recommend to a friend as confidentially as $ he raps his verses in “Pay Me No Mind.”
$un’s upcoming Phone Calls Gimme Anxiety EP is out July 22nd via Red Bull Records/Mind Of A Genius.
