Fresco Trey – Detour EP
Memphis upstart Fresco Trey keeps the momentum going with new EP Detour, showing off his polished blend of Rap, R&B, and pop over seven tracks that all sound like hits. Effortlessly gliding melodically over a diversity of sounds–from the braggadocious groove of “Bad Bitches,” to the laid-back vibe “No No Mo” to going bar for bar with NLE Chopper on “Passenger Princess”–Trey displays the potential to be up next out of Memphis.
Larry June & Cardo – The Night Shift
Bay Area MC Larry June and veteran beatmaker Cardo team up for new album The Night Shift–finding a luxurious groove between decadent raps and romantic, laid-back production as the two contemplate “the appeal of an intentionally loud exhaust system.” With many excellent features from BLXST, Jordan Ward, 2 Chainz, Too $hort, Schoolboy Q, Dej Loaf, and more, The Night Shift is sure to stay in the rotation for a while.
Lord Apex – The Good Fight
Underground UK hip-hop trailblazer Lord Apex releases his debut studio album, The Good Fight–making a strong first impression with immaculate production and focused lyricism. The LP boasts a litany of astounding original instrumentals by legendary producers like Madlib and DJ Khalil and features from acclaimed underground MCs Freddie Gibbs, BONES, and MAVI.
Lakeyah – “No Hesitation”
Milwaukee MC and Quality Control’s “Female Goat” Lakeyah drops gritty new single “No Hesitation”–delivering relentless bars over a hard-hitting beat and ominous piano keys.
Amira Elfeky – “Everything I Do Is For You”
Hard rock songstress Amira Elfeky shares explosive new single “Everything I Do Is For You”– saturating an early 00s rock soundscape with blistering distortion and thick reverb.
