Nuance Music Friday: August 26, 2022

Happy Nuance Friday! Another August is riding out into the sunset, so before it goes, be sure to take a moment and catch some excellent new music. This week, we got exciting new melodies and verses from new friends and old, so grab your favorite listening device and let this Friday be a vibe. 

Dylan Fraser – 2030 Revolution 

Ascending Scottish alt-pop artist and longtime Nuance favorite Dylan Fraser continues his exciting 2022, a year in which he accumulated co-signs from the likes of Sam Smith, Samia, and Sir Elton John, with the release of his third EP, 2030 Revolution–a dynamic, genre-bending pop project featuring standout singles “Apartment Complex from the Eastside” and “Vampires (with Alaska Redd).”

Rowan Drake – “Abandonment Issues”

Singer/songwriter Rowan Drake releases intimate new single “Abandonment Issues”–a moody, stripped-back guitar track highlighting soothing vocals and confessional lyricism. Raised in Ithaca, NY, Rowan turned to music once his dreams of snowboarding were dashed in an unfortunate accident, but he was able to transfer that work ethic to music once he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his new dreams.

Meechy Darko – Gothic Luxuries

Meechy Darko, famously 1/3rd of the influential Brooklyn underground hip-hop trio Flatbush Zombies, takes on a new direction and sound with his first solo venture, Gothic Luxuriesgrappling with the heavy subject matter of losing his father, who was killed by Miami Police in 2020, with production from Dot-Da-Genius and features from Freddie Gibbs, A-Trak, Busta Rhymes, Denzel Curry, Kirk Knight, and Black Thought.

Julia Jacklin – Pre-Pleasure

Melbourne-via-Blue Mountains singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin releases her third album, Pre-Pleasure–a strong 10-track showing of extremely personal thoughts that sonically expands on Jacklin’s signature sound and strengthens her case as an important, must-listen songwriter in the genre right now.

BlueBucksClan – “I Guess”

Los Angeles hip-hop duo BlueBucksClan drops new single, “I Guess”–a track featuring both mcs DJ and Jeezy Obama finding their pocket over a dreamy, laidback beat. The accompanying music video shows the West Coast MCs finding their groove on the opposite coast as they strut their stuff through NYC.

BURNS – “Burning In My Arms”  

Scottish DJ/Producer BURNS is back with the high-energy summer anthem “Burning In My Arms”–fresh off the global success of his smash-hit ‘“Talamanca,” BURNS brings the party back with a hip-shaking rhythm, smooth piano chords, and infectious vocals on his new track.
