Purpose,” the debut single from Philly based R&B artist No Tmrrw, hit all major streaming platforms last Friday, bringing his life of music to the public for the first time. The song itself rides a stripped down instrumental, relying on his milky vocals to carry the track where it needs to go.

Lyrically, you get pretty much what you expect from a first expedition into songwriting: soul searching, finding success, bringing success for the team, but it will be interesting to see what kind of original content No Tmrrw can come up with moving forward.

For a debut track, this single really shows the vocal potential of this young artist, but it also shows where there’s room for improvement. While the production is overall pretty good, as No Tmrrw grows as an artist, his production will grow to match his talent rather than rely on it.

“No Tmrrw has been singing for the duration of his life, however, the title, “Song-writer” came much later. In 2018, Tmrrw found himself feeling unfulfilled in the many ventures he’d taken part of post college and stumbled upon songwriting as a means to cope with the emptiness that he felt; The result of this “awakening” was Purpose, a song that strives to prioritize positive mantras, reaffirm a sense of belonging, and encourages optimistic thought.

The origin of the name, “No Tmrrw” alone, is a direct reflection of the message he wants his listeners to receive when they hear this song…The creation of the stage moniker came in the midst the Coronavirus pandemic when everyone was striving to cling to some sense of reality. The unprecedented “free time” gave the Philly native the creative space to dedicate time to his craft, and reminded him that any day could be our last. He turned that grim reality into lemonade and came up with the name, “No Tmrrw” as a reminder that we should "live everyday like there’s no tomorrow because tomorrow is not promised”, and decided that it was time to fast track Purpose.” (No Tmrrw Press Release)
