Nashville based alt-rock group, Betcha, just released their newest single, “Deja Vu,” in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore EP, Feels Like We’ve Been Here Before, due to be released October 16. The Atlantic Records signees added the pop anthem to their “Closer to the Sun” (listen below) collection of singles that have been released periodically over the course of the summer, all of which will be featured on their upcoming EP alongside several brand new tracks.
After meeting at Belmont University in Nashville and winning the Battle of the Bands competition under the name Wilder, Charlie Green (vocals, guitar), Ben Booth (lead guitar), Taylor Dubray (bass, keys), and Chase Wolford (drums) decided to pursue their musical talents on the Nashville scene with the support of Grammy-winning producer, Jacquire King. This led to their signing with Atlantic records, and re-dubbing themselves “Betcha,” an amalgamation of all of the first letters of their first names.
In April, the band released the single and accompanying music video “If That’s Alright,” which featured Nashville troubadour and close friend, Briston Maroney, starting the steady build of momentum for the youngsters. Throughout the summer, Betcha has built on that original momentum with the May 13 release of “July,” produced by Nick Furlong, and the August 14 release of high energy bop, “Closer to the Sun.” This slow drip strategy of timely releases has proved effective for the band as they have turned the heads of some big name publications as well as earning them a spot on Billboard’s “20 Great Songs to Discover While You’re Quarantined.”
For Nashville’s Betcha, the sky really is the limit in the coming months. The wind is fully at their backs as they ride the tidal wave of momentum coming off of their summer releases into their upcoming October release of EP Feels Like We’ve Been Here Before. While there is know telling where this wave will take them, given what we have heard so far, it can only be up from here.
