Listening to 17-year-old singer-songwriter Lindsey Lomis’s work in the Nashville pop world is enough to give anyone the chills. Her smooth-as-ocean-brine 2019 EP, Chapter I, conveys the distinct feeling we’re witnessing a budding star on the verge of hitting national recognition. This feeling is only compounded when one hears her fresh out of the oven single “Feel”. Although “Feel” explores similar thorny themes in teenage love and life as Chapter I, in many ways this song blazes a new trail for Lomis’s future. Not only does this mark her exciting debut with Altadena/Warner Records, it marks a significant revamp in her MO. Far from playing it safe with one genre or style, “Feel” combines hard hitting electronic music, an immediately catchy pop beat, and an undoubtedly demanding vocal range that Lindsey ascends and descends easier than a feather in an air duct. Though her unique voice has been on full display since “Our Memories” in 2017, never before have her songs packed this much punch. The racing tempo in “Feel” doubles Lomis’s usually leisurely pace, and the roller coaster chorus hits as hard as the thrill of twisted up teen love itself. With even more singles, collaborations, and a new EP on the horizon, Lindsey Lomis is an artist we can bet on to keep growing, innovating, and putting that crazy voice to good use.
