After a long awaited drop for the new year, it feels like Christmas came early with the release of new music video and track “Wounded/Surrounded” from very talented artist Kid Bloom. The LA native who has put a modern pop twist on a 70’s psychedelic vibe released this track that not only fits that genre, but a video that matches it perfectly. Truly a differentiator in the music industry right now, Kid Bloom has mastered the new-age twist on a genre that he has built for himself. With a filming style and feel that is reminiscent of an 80’s coming of age movie, “Wounded/Surrounded” almost feels like a soundtrack to a movie rather than a music video, but in an astounding way. Color morphing, vintage filters, and a trip-like visual all contribute back to this psychedelic sound and look Kid Bloom has established for himself. With a techno and synth laden instrumental rooted in 70’s pop and dazzling vocals, this track and video will have you seduced and lost in a 3-minute world within seconds. Kid Bloom not only flashes his vast vocal range, but his incredible control as he seamlessly switches from his normal voice to a falsetto constantly through the song. He headlines the track with an enchanting chorus layered with multiple voices that will give you chills. The video paralleles the song’s title as the first half features a cut up, bloody, and wounded Kid Bloom walking down a dirt road. As the song and video progress, they cross over into the “Surrounded” half of the track where nature scenes and the psychedelic trip take center stage. A song fit for a summer night's drive and a video that will absorb you into a retro realm, Kid Bloom elevated his game with “Wounded/Surrounded” and its accompanying video.
