J.I.D. returns with more of his deliberate, yet effortless, flow on newly released tracks “Cludder,” “Ballads,” and a remix of “Bruuuh” featuring Denzel Curry. With his ability to switch between both an extremely fast-paced, enunciated flow and a more relaxed vibe, J.I.D. almost shapeshifts between songs. “Cludder” sounds recognizably similar to rap collective Spillage Village (which J.I.D. is a member of) with its clear, distinct lyrics and base paired with an easy, fluid flow, while the “Bruuuh” remix demonstrates J.I.D’s ability to produce a harder, more rigid sound.

With J.I.D’s collaboration on Dreamville’s album Revenge of the Dreamers III (a label founded by J. Cole), his participation in Spillage Village (a group founded by the members of EarthGang), and his work on his critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2, it should come as no surprise that J.I.D. may be considered one of rap’s most talented young artists. His presence on Revenge of the Dreamers III earned him Platinum status and two Grammy nominations (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album). Fader, NPR, Uproxx, and Complex also named Spillage Village’s Spilligion one of 2020’s best albums. We can hope for more hits from the young artist in 2021 as J.I.D. hinted at the possibility of another album.
