Courtney Barnett just announced her next album, Things Take Time, Take Time, set to drop on November 12. This will be Barnett’s third studio album, giving listeners an even closer look into her life. Through her incredibly personal albums, Barnett is able to connect with her listeners in acoustic songs focusing on love, healing, renewal and self-discovery.
The album’s opener and first single, “Rae Street,” beautifully juxtaposes everyday life in a small community with the speed of modern society. Barnett’s raw vocals and personal lyrics encapsulate the story she wants to tell, saying in the chorus, “time is money, and money is no man’s friend.” In this single, she hints at the need for personal connection with others and how it is often lost in the chaos of life. Barnett also released a music video for the song, where she played many different roles in the narrative.
Barnett’s album is currently available for pre-order and she will be taking her impressive lyrics and resonant sound on a North American tour starting late November.
