Danny Dwyer, the LA-based singer/songwriter known for his soft sweet melodies atop dreamy drifting grooves, seems to shift focus slightly with a November single “Chinatown Market.” While much of his previous work remains within the industry-standard 4/4 time signature with relatively straightforward chord progressions, the recent hit explores alternative deliveries and features a unique swing type beat that opens up new creative avenues for lyrical experimentation. While instrumentally it features a similar vibe to the recognizable bangers such as “Holiday” and “What you want,” the offset cadences and rhythm of stressed and unstressed syllables evoke a vastly different emotion than much of his previous work. With a new song coming in the next couple of weeks, it will be very interesting to see what new direction his music will take.
Be on the lookout tomorrow, February 7th, for his new single, ‘Vitamins’, that will surely cure any of your ills! In the meantime, enjoy the ‘holiday’ video!!
