On October 8th, Houston by way of Brooklyn artist Catterina released her leading single “Inconvenience” off of her upcoming debut EP. The upbeat track is both musically and lyrically as bare and vulnerable as it is proud and confident. With just guitar, bass, Wurlitzer, and drums to accompany Catterina’s projecting vocals, she proves that she really doesn’t need anything more than herself to sell her point.
Despite the limited instrumentation, Catterina finds ways to build the energy in the track without all the bells and whistles of production. As her vocal energy nears crescendo, she enters a B section that seems to modulate keys and take the song in a different direction before returning to the original, catchy progression. Clearly we have a lot to look forward to as this is only the second track she has released. Look out for her Debut EP coming in early 2022.
