Compton rapper Buddy teamed up with New Orleans native Lucky Daye on his newest track, “Faces,” which is a half-humorous, half-pornographic addition to his catalogue. The beat, produced by frequent Buddy collaborator D’Mile, is a funk-infused jam-sesh fronted by a west coast bassline and decrescendoing electric bells. The Keep Cool labelmates casually exchange verses about their sex lives. Buddy starts off the conversation with a quick, jitty flow by saying, “You was talkin’ all that shit, now you butt naked at my spot / Baby it ain’t all ass, I just wanna get a lil top top.” Then Lucky Daye ups the intensity by singing some erotica-worthy lines: “Pussy so wet and too deep / Bust it open for me.” Just two guys talking about having sex, not much else to see here.
Buddy released an accompanying video which was surprisingly not a softcore porno, but instead a skimpy singular shot of a woman behind a glass shower door. All in all, this track is nothing special, but it is a simple, easy-listening, and catchy tune — something that has been hard to come by in a year as rough as 2020.
