A Nuance Interview with Jeris Johnson

Interview Conducted by Edwin Keeble and Charles Craighill

1.  What were you listening to when you were 7 years old? Oddly enough I very specifically know the answer to this question. When I was around that age I had this little boombox that I would just have the radio playing on and one time I called in and requested Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani. I remember them calling me “little girl” cause I guess they just assumed a boy wouldn’t be requesting that song?? Lmao, but shit was fire.

2. How freeing is the raw meat diet? What raw meat will you not eat? To be fair I’m not 100% vampire demon but I do occasionally eat the raw organs of animals like many of our ancestors did throughout human history. For the health benefits mainly. But sometimes they taste like candy if you get a real good one. To answer the second question I’d be open to trying any form of it at least once.

3. Does the sword you wield contain magical powers? No, I contain the magical powers and then infuse them into my sword. We must remember that we all have the power within and there’s no such thing as a “quick fix” or “magic pill” or in this case a “magic sword” that will just instantly solve all of your problems. You have the power and can throw that energy around wherever you like.

4. What are you looking forward to next in the journey through your career? I want to get out in the real world and meet the people of my sword gang army. Touring and playing packed shows has always been like the ultimate dream for me and probably any kid growing up wanting to be a rockstar. I just feel like that’s when the movement of what we are doing is going to become real. Until then I’ll just keep taking over the internet.

5. What has been your favorite collaboration? I mean obviously, I’d have to say, Papa Roach. They’re the only ones I’ve actually met in person and I’ve just become so close to (and learned so much) from those guys I love ‘em to death.

6. What’s the first thing you will do when live music comes back? Anything you are looking forward to doing on stage? YES, I wanna bring a fan up on stage every show and have them try and dislodge my sword from a stone King Arthur style. And if they do it maybe they win something IDK I haven’t thought it all the way through yet.
