Following the release of his debut album, Circmvnt, the multi-talented artists Elujay recently shared his self directed music video for his song “Ratrace” off of the album. The album taps into his Trinidadian roots as he creatively explores different avenues of his sound ranging from Alternative, R&B, Jazz and Soul.
Beyond his artistic and musical talents, Elujay also displays his cinematographic gifts in the “Ratrace” video that he himself directed and edited. The song and accompanying video address the struggle all artists go through as they try to make a better life for themselves through their music. As Elujay mentions, the video style imitates the vibe of the 90s and pays homage to the directors and filmmakers he admires.
"This video was inspired by late 90s cinematography and directors like Wong Kar-wai and Mathieu Kassovitz. This is my first time editing a video, so this is taking me in the direction of making my own film one day which is a dream of mine." (via the Oriel Co)
Elujay clearly does it all, from music to video, even dabbling in fashion. He made his debut at the New York Fashion Week in the fall of 2021 with his production fo the original score to the unreleased show TOMBOGO. He also walked as a model in the show. All in all, Elujay is the epitome of a creative, putting his talents on full display in multiple avenues of creativity. We really have no idea what could come next considering his wide range of abilities, but we are excited to see whatever that might be.
