ROLE MODEL Releases New Single with Music Video: “For The People In The Back.”
By Will Mossa
With the May 27 release of his new song and music video of “For The People In The Back,” ROLE MODEL has dropped his first new single of 2020, and came in on a high note. With an already impressive discography, ROLE MODEL’s new single doesn’t skip a beat with what he’s already established. Per usual, he displays flashes of his exceptional versatility of both singing and rapping within the song. Musically, the song features a synth parallel to the catchy melody of the chorus and upbeat but deep lyrics on his struggles and finding himself as an individual through life. In this combination, ROLE MODEL strikes gold in the balance between groovy vibes and the revelation, feel-good story. While the narrative is easily relatable to anyone who has done or needs to do some soul searching in life, it is clear that this one hits different.
ROLE MODEL encapsulates the upbeat and enthusiastic feel of the song into the retro style visual, a new age twist on the unforgettable Footloose scene where Ren McCormack dances alone in the warehouse. Most of the video takes place in one warehouse featuring only himself, which matches the freeing and inspirational story of the song: not needing anyone else to be happy. ROLE MODEL says it best in the intro of the song, “the volume won’t go any higher.” Surely a song that will bump on any summer playlist, ROLE MODEL will receive some well deserved buzz for this heartwarming and empowering project.
