It’s Canadian dream pop. It’s “lets get in the car and wear scarves as headbands and drive into a charming pastoral setting, but no words or sounds are to be exchanged outside of the music… let’s just think.”

“Serenade of Water” makes you think. I love listening to this song outside, surrounded by trees and grass and thoughts. I used to listen to Men I Trust’s third album, “Oncle Jazz,” as a free form of therapy. Dreamy harmonic vocals are paired with catchy pop choruses. Soft synth sounds (that’s a sweet alliteration) are paired with electronic drums. Each song is different, but poignant and connected

Thankfully, Men I Trust’s fourth album, “The Untourable Album,” was released this past June, and it's definitely the same kind of vibe. If you’re looking for new music or are stressed, lay down with a set of headphones and listen to both of these albums from beginning to end. You’ll feel better. “Serenade of Water” is the 7th tune on this new album, and the best in my opinion.

“The Untourable Album” was written by all three members of Men I Trust, producer Dragos Chirlac, bassist Jessy Caron, and vocalist Emmanuelle Proulx. Men I Trust began as a two-man band created through a strong college friendship between Chirlac and Caron. They were the original men everyone trusted, I guess. Proulx, with a voice like an angel, completed the dream pop team in 2015 after Chirlac and Caron found her videos on Youtube. Thank you, Youtube.

Men I Trust is one of my favorite bands, mixing traditional and contemporary sounds that create this feeling of temporary all-knowing wisdom, of empowerment and tranquility, of head scarves and sunglasses and maybe a lemonade as you drive through pastures.

It’s………….. Canadian dream pop and it’s awesome.
