Peter $un continues to keep it 100 in 2020 with his brand new single “100 Proof” released on August 20. With a laid back and lofi/trap beat headlining a funky synth, the impressive feature from Guapdad 4000 ties the whole track together through clever word play and a constantly switching flow. His vocal tone gives that mainstream trap-singing sound that is not only dynamic, but stays refreshing from the hook, as it is an entirely different yet perfectly complementary sound to Peter $un. Peter $un shows his ability to use the same sound in both beats and style while managing to keep it unique in every song. This rare ability makes him an artist in today’s rap industry that understands the process and not only improves his work with each release, displays something new in each track while keeping the sound that fans have come to love. The two work in tandem to create yet another underrated track to add into the Peter $un discography. Again Peter $un shows his excellent hook writing as this one will be stuck in your head for days, not just the sound but the easy to sing lyrics: “I’m living life like I’m bulletproof/kept it a hundred off the hundred proof” and his verse is nothing short of fire, proving he has mastered the sound we’ve come to expect out of him. The added adlib effect on each line having the last word repeated from what sounds like a choir is another classic Peter $un tactic that really never gets old; a simple but effective way to throw a little pizzazz on a track. All the way across the board, “100 Proof” will grab your attention from the first second to the captivating and flashy feature until its end. Peter $un yet again shows us why he is one of the most underrated artists in his genre, not only a Nuance favorite, but deserving of a top spot on any lyrical-rap fans’ playlist.
