Newly Independent Singer/Songwriter Delacey Releases Single "Boy With the Blues"
By Eileen Kile
After co-writing songs for artists like Demi Lovato and Halsey, singer-songwriter Delacey began releasing her own music in 2020 and even cut ties with her record label this year, becoming an independent artist. She also appeared on the cover of The Nuance Magazine Spring 2020 Issue.
“This year has obviously been a weird one but on top of everything, I left my label and am now an independent artist..” Delacey said. “I can’t really explain how that feels except to say, I feel vindicated…Also nervous. It’s just going to feel good to know everything I’m releasing, music & visuals, will all be 100% me”
“Boy With the Blues” is Delacey’s first single to be released off of her upcoming album The Girl Has a Dream. The ethereal, ‘90s-style track is just a taste of what is to come on her album, which is set to be released on August 6, 2021.
“Although ‘Boy With The Blues’ is very personal and about my very real relationship,” Delacey said, “it has a greater message than just love. Not only accepting someone’s darkness but really love that part of them. Adoring them to the point of feeling like they could do anything and you’d still love them… which is both beautiful and toxic in such a phenomenal way to me.”
