May 29th featured the release of the new single from Modern Nomad collaborated with Treasure, “Deja Vu.” In Modern Nomad’s fifth released single of the year, he is staying right on track with a similar sound he has established throughout his career. The perfect addition to a summer night drive playlist, “Deja Vu” highlights a surfer vibe guitar riff, an ambient synth that rings throughout, and vocals that match an authentic and literal deja vu feeling. The use of reverb and delay on the instrumental track is a crowning addition to the dream-like state of this song. With a lethargic pace of song and an array of different sounds, this track gives the listener a dreamy trip, leaving you wanting more at the slowly fading end. While the track is short in length (only two minutes), it contains a lot of different pieces; it is still a complex and skillfully executed song. The headline of the track are the alluring vocals, but the bewitching harmonies and the different ranges create a stunning sound. With consistent releases through 2020 to this point, we will keep Modern Nomad on our watch list and any fan of the alternative/soul genre should do the same.
