Julia Jacklin today shares another single from her upcoming album PRE PLEASURE, set for release on August 26 on Polyvinyl Record Co — "Love, Try Not To Let Go" This new song also comes with a music video filmed in Melbourne, co-directed with Nick Mckk, and featuring a collaboration with visual artist Juliet Bryant.
This one-shot video is built with Julia's vintage yet playful color scheme, filming her dancing and singing as she walks along the street in a spontaneous one-take. The video naturally captures the peaceful, everyday scene of a Melbourne street, taking in the scene as it unfolds like the random cat that unexpectedly makes a cameo!
The song, on the other hand, also is curated to be a good fit for the video’s nostalgic scene. Driven by the charming guitar chords and Julia’s warmhearted vocal, the song does a great job of pushing the listener’s emotion to a climax as she sings the song’s energetic hook.
“Love, Try Not To Let Go" was written one night during the recording period in my apartment in Montreal. It’s the first song I’ve ever written fully on piano. It’s the first time I’ve played piano on a record. I thought someone better would redo the take but we kept it so now I’m officially a pianist. We recorded it the next day. I made everyone watch the running scene from Rocky beforehand.” – Julia Jacklin.
In her upcoming album, PRE PLEASURE, Jacklin will showcase 10 tracks with 10 different stories portraying her intensive, personal thoughts along with the hope to connect with the fans through well-written lyrics and melodies. With Julia's compassionate stories and a peaceful, nostalgic music production style, PRE PLEASURE is promised to be a great fit for a rainy late-summer day — remember to check it out this August!
