Exclusive Nuance Interview: Gyyps Talks New Album, Inspirations, Growth
California artist Gyyps has spent years finding the sounds and songs that spoke most to him. His recently released album Out of this World is the result of years of working on his sound and finding the best songs.
Gyyps spoke of his constant growth and how he hopes to show that in his latest album as well as future work.
“You know they say it takes like 10,000 hours to get great at something and like, that's like four years. And I think that, through my projects, you can see me really working on my sound in a lot of different ways.”
Gyyps says he hopes his work shows through as he continues to develop his sound through his projects. Finding his voice through lyrical growth and sound design.
“I wanted to show people something different than like my just every day,” Gyyps said. “I feel like people really know me for like rapping you know and like a kind of like a specific tone.”
Taking inspiration from artists such as Frank Ocean, Drake, Tyler the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, and Pharrell Williams, Gyyps said like his inspirations who make music for the sake of music, he is good at coming up with a new flow and sound with every song he writes.
“This should be able to kind of keep people on their toes in terms of like it’s got a little of singing it’s got some like acoustic vibes got some r&b stuff like what the hell is going on kind of and that’s what I wanted to do,” Gyyps said, “Just like fuckin eight genres and eight songs.”
