Deza’s new single “Pout” is a jovial acceptance of everyone’s 2020 mood, singing infectiously on the hook: “I don’t wanna dance right now / I just wanna pout.” The track gleams with summer-pop energy: playful synth plucks and keys spiraling around a hip-shaking bassline as Deza flips the concept of self-loathing into a desirable and fun experience.

Mastering her craft at the Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries in Norway, Deza exudes confidence in her vocal control and a knack for witty lyrics, starting off “Pout” with the hilarious line “Cut off all my hair ‘cause I don’t like ending,” while dropping more introspective thoughts on the second verse: “Never really scared staying in the ruins / Kinda dig the way it’s all-consuming, makin’ me more human.”

Coming off her recent catchy-single “June,” and signing a co-publishing deal with Prescription Songs and Emily Warren, Deza has been on a roll this year and only gains momentum. “Pout” is Deza’s best single yet, and shares an important perspective on how to flip the concept of negativity take joy and in pain and disappointment, or as Deza beautifully says it: “Let these bruises keep on bloomin.” “Pout” is a much-needed flower in a week of bruises, so take a few minutes to listen, and of course, let it out.
