Concert Review: Pusha T Runs Through his Legendary Catalog on the It’s Almost Dry Tour
Written by: Wyatt Westlake
“Welcome to the ‘It’s Almost Dry Tour’ aka ‘Cokechella’ aka rap album of the year,” says Pusha T in front of a sold out crowd at Boston’s Big Night Live, “I don’t care who drops.” The rap legend’s current tour is in support of his latest opus, It’s Almost Dry, which was produced by Pharrell and Kanye West and included features from JAY-Z, Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert, Labrinth, and his brother Malice.
The stage setup consisted of three large screens where lights and graphics corresponding to different songs were projected. There were also additional laser lights set up around the stage, making it a minimal yet potent stage design for a rap show.
Most of Pusha T’s setlist was comprised of songs from It’s Almost Dry but he made plenty of time for the fan-favorites as he ran through almost all of DAYTONA as well as some classics from My Name Is My Name such as “Numbers on the Boards” and “Nosetalgia.” He then went through his feature run from the G.O.O.D. Music era like “Runaway,” “Don’t Like,” and “So Appalled,” plus he took things back to the beginning with Clipse’s “Grindin.’” Though he performed almost thirty songs, Pusha T never ran out of energy and looked like he enjoyed every second of it.
He thanked the crowd for their love and support as he said he’s been coming “here for years and years.” The appreciation was definitely present as he did two separate encores. He also was impressed by Big Night Live as it was his first time performing at the venue, which opened in 2019. He said, “I don’t think I’ve been to this venue before, this is my style right here.”
With an impressive selection of songs, a thrilling stage show, and a high level of confidence and energy, Pusha T proves that he is one of hip hop’s best live performers.
