Buddy's New Track "Black 2" Blasts Society While Blasting Through Your Speakers
By Will Mossa
Buddy came out firing speaking out on current issues with the frequent lyric “it’s a black thing” on his new June 12th release of single, “Black 2.” With a funky Caribbean beat complemented by a hard flow, you might be too distracted at first listen to really dive into the lyrics, but Buddy does an excellent job scrapping subtle lines and throws it right in your face. Buddy keeps a feel, flow, and upbeat tempo to this track that his fans have come to expect. The song features a hard hitting chorus that will make you double take when you first hear it. “Feel like Malcolm X, peeking outside my window, everybody wanna be black, but nobody wanna be a *****.” Not only referencing the artwork for the song and activist Malcolm X, but he uses a show stopping line that will take your breath away. Even though this track is catchy and will bump on any speakers, Buddy gets beyond passionate and raw in his lyrics that will make anyone question society, and shines a headlight directly on the issues in our world. He chooses to use an echo effect every time he uses the lyric “it’s a black thing,” to drive home his point and to describe various stereotypes while begging the question of why. This is perfectly executed as Buddy balances blasting societal issues while also blasting your speakers with a song that goes hard. Not only does he use his platform to spread an important message, Buddy uses his skill to create a track that is easily considered a masterpiece. “Black 2” is the track society needs right now, and even if you’re not ready to hear it, it is unquestionably a song everyone needs to listen to.
