The young, Melbourne native artist, Bel, has released her newest Single, “Good News” along with an anxiety inducing music video as the final installment to her EP T1. While her music would generally fall under a dark, experimental pop umbrella, her sound in particular is very unique. She shows some similarities to artists like Lana Del Ray, but only in aspects of her music such as her wide vocal range and willingness to explore the darker, minor melodies of mainstream pop. Despite her relatively small following on Spotify and instagram, Bel’s completion of her EP T1 with “Good News” show’s her incredible potential to push the boundaries of pop music and dive into the darker side of mainstream music.

“I wrote this song with six emotions in mind, six stages one goes through when trying to fight off sheer and utter defeat. I was in a very toxic working relationship. All my self-belief shattered by an emotionally manipulative man in the music industry. My goals felt impossible. I drove myself insane fixating on all the things I wasn’t achieving. Being awake and being asleep were equally torturous. Moreso, to dramatise and heighten my own narrative, “Good News” encompasses all things obsession, paranoia, yearning, tunnel vision and mania. This song has since taken on much deeper meaning. We all crave Good News right now. 2020 is a year for everyone to stop and listen. In order for us to prosper, we need to create Good News for ourselves, with active change and openness.”
